Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 18, 2026
Overview
PDFChop ("we", "us", "our") is a browser-based PDF toolkit. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
How Your Files Are Processed
Client-Side Tools (Most Tools)
The majority of PDFChop tools — including Compress, Merge, Split, Rotate, Add Page Numbers, JPG to PDF, PNG to PDF, PDF to JPG, Edit PDF, Sign PDF, and Unlock PDF — process files entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to our servers. We cannot see, access, or store the contents of files processed with these tools.
Server-Side Tools (Document Conversions)
Some tools — specifically PDF to Word, Word to PDF, PDF to Excel, Excel to PDF, PDF to PPT, and PPT to PDF — require server-side processing because they rely on document conversion engines. For these tools, your file is uploaded to our servers, processed, and the result is sent back to you. Files are processed in memory and are not stored persistently. Temporary data is deleted immediately after processing is complete.
Information We Collect
Account Information
If you create an account, we collect your email address to manage authentication and your subscription. We use Supabase as our authentication provider. Your password is securely hashed and never stored in plain text.
Payment Information
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Paddle. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers. We receive only a customer identifier and subscription status from Paddle.
Usage Data
We track which tools are used and how often to enforce daily usage limits and to improve the service. This usage data does not include the contents of your files.
Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how visitors use PDFChop and to improve our service. PostHog may set cookies in your browser to track page views and interactions. This data is anonymized and aggregated. No file contents are ever included in analytics data.
Cookies
PDFChop uses cookies for the following purposes:
- Authentication: Session cookies to keep you signed in.
- Analytics: PostHog cookies to understand site usage patterns.
- Usage tracking: Local storage to track your daily free-tier usage count.
You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect authentication functionality.
Data Retention
For client-side tools, no file data is retained because files never leave your device. For server-side tools, files are deleted immediately after processing. Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase — Authentication and database.
- Paddle — Payment processing.
- PostHog — Product analytics.
- Vercel — Hosting and deployment.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them if you have concerns about how your data is handled by these providers.

You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Opt out of analytics tracking by disabling cookies.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@pdfchop.com.
